Vejer de La Frontera – February 25, 2023 – Another busy day took place on Saturday at the Sunshine Tour CSI 4*, featuring two major attractions. The main class was the €27,100 Big Tour Small Grand Prix CSI 4*, a 1.45 Longines Ranking class that was kindly sponsored by the Ayuntamiento de Vejer.  There were 73 participants, with 20 advancing to the jump off on a course designed by the Italian course designer Elio Travagliati (ITA).

In the end, the winner was the Canadian rider, Tim Wilks (CAN) on his lovely mare Diamanthella VG Z (Diamant de Semilly x Hickory Mail) mare. The Canadian and the 10-year-old chestnut Zangersheide mare (Diamant de Semilly x Hickory Mail) stopped the timers in 36.89 seconds, the only pair to go clear and in under 37 seconds. This was their best result here so far at Montenmedio, moreover, they had also been third in the 1.50 WKD Trophy CSI 4* two days earlier.

In  second was the American rider, who has had great results here so far, Michael Hughes (USA). Today, he rode  Kashmir van D’oude Pastory, a gelding who is owned by the Stephex Stables, stepping up to deliver a second penalty-free performance in 37.31 seconds which held up for second place.

The third spot on the podium was claimed by one of the most consistent riders of the tour so far, the French Olympic rider, Pénélope Leprevost (FRA) with GFE Candy de Nantuel (Luidam x Diamant de Semilly’). The duo also registered a clean scorecard, securing bronze honors in 37.44 seconds.
